Extraction solution - Twenty mL of the sulfate extracting solution (0.5 N ammonium acetate in 0.25 N acetic acid) is added to each sample. Sulfur must be tested separately from the other minerals since the Mehlich 1 extraction solution contains sulfur from the sulfuric acid.
