GENE CONSTRUCTION AND EXPRESSION

Three types of synthetic spidroin 1-like genes encoding for proteins containing a normal amount and less alanine residues have been synthezised inorder to test the importance of the presence of alanine residues in the resulting fiber. They have been sequenced and are currently being moved into yeast vectors for expression and characterization of the recombinant proteins.
