Lyon Sprague DeCamp (1907- ) and Fletcher Pratt(1897-1956)
The Enchanter Series Begun as The Incomplete Enchanter, published in 1941; this series is a classic piece of humorous fantasy in which the protagonist Harold Shea is transported into a series of alternate worlds based on various myths and legends. Conceived by Fletcher Pratt as a series of novellas, Shea's adventures began in John W. Campbell's fantasy magazine "Unknown". Harold Shea is a brash, self-conceited young psychologist who finds himself first projected into the worlds of Scandinavian myth and that of Spenser's Faerie Queen. Later, the series takes Shea into the land of Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, the Finnish Kalevala, and then the world of Irish myth.
