The Witch World Series

Andre Norton's most popular series is primarily a fantasy, but many common SF devices such as dimensional gates and force fields are found in this complex world. The series is set in the matriarchal realm of Estcarp. Within the same world but with little interaction with the Estcarp stories are those set in High Halleck, a colony located on another continent on Estcarp. Most of the stories consist of young protagonists involved in sword and sorcery adventures.
