Kurt Vonnegut: Science Fiction

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. has one of the most unique writing styles, and writes some of the most unique science fiction. He doen't write space operas or technically based hard science fiction. I suppose it is sort of science fantasy, but the existence of magic is not present. There is time travel and are extra terrestrial/dimensional beings in his works, but the strongest element he uses, and is common with science fiction, is the concentration on the human reaction to new sittuations. How do humans express their humanity?
